Child Bath Safety Products

by Casey Madisson

Probably one of your most precious memories were times spent in the bath. You’d want your child to experience happy moments at bath time, too, without him/her being traumatized from slipping on floors or falling into the water. During a child bath, you should always consider safety first.

Different children have different reactions to taking a bath. If your child is already used to baths, it’s still a must to have safety products or features in hand (even if he or she is behaving during baths). You can never really foretell when accidents are going to happen. You may be picking your child after finishing a bath, but the child may slip over the floor once you put him/her down. You must take even greater precautions for kids who are particularly dreadful of water, as they can move a lot and may even prevent you from holding them. Thus, some safety child bath products would be useful.

Below are preventive measures and child bath products you might want to utilize to keep your child safe while bathing:

Prevent burning and scalding.

Digital thermometers can assess the temperature of the tub’s water. Always fill the tub before placing your child in. To test the heat, run water over your hand-you should be comfortable enough that your hand doesn’t twitch. When your child is done bathing, turn the hot water off first before the cold one.

Prevent water from overflowing.

Overflowing water does not only create a mess, it also poses great danger to you and your child. You may be keeping electrical devices such as blow dryers and the radio away from the tub, but water that has spilled over can reach plugged devices. Many of us are busy doing two things at once at home and usually leave the water running until we think the tub’s ready. In this case it might be a good idea for you to purchase a child bath alarm. This will alarm you when the tub is almost full.

Prevent head injuries.

Be careful with waterspouts as this can be dangerous to your child too. Child bath spout covers can protect this from happening, and they come in many colorful designs, too.

Prevent slipping in the tub.

When taking a bath, your child may be moving around a lot. Prevent slippage by providing rubber mats at the bottom of the tub. There are also now seats with suction cups to keep your child seated and secure.

Prevent slipping outside the tub.

As already mentioned, its quite possible that your child may slip even after bath time while you are attempting to put him or her on her foot. It’s always best to place a mattress or rug right beside the tub.

Your child isn’t safe unless he has you supervising his bath the whole time. Even with safety products it’s not too impossible for your child to slip or have the risk of drowning. Make child bath time a fun and safe routine.

How Does A Twin Size Bed Mattress Look Like?

Posted in Home Improvement
by Hayden Madisson

A twin size bed mattress is one of the most commonly-used mattress in dormitories and children’s bedrooms. This is one of the mattress sizes available and it can also be made from different materials.

As the name connotes, twin size bed mattress is used for twin size beds. Twin size bed mattress is also better known as single bed mattress. It has a dimensional size of thirty-nine (39) inches in width and seventy-five (75) inches in length. It is considered to be the smallest size among mattress sizes available in the market.

Most bed mattresses are made up of the same materials regardless of the size. It can be composed with a foam, latex, fiber, or other materials that are use to make mattresses. The thickness of the mattress does not also necessarily follow with its size.

It is being claimed by many people that twin size bed mattress is ideal for rooms that have less space. In households, it is commonly used for the bedrooms of the children and for multi-user guest rooms. The narrow size that this kind of mattress has makes it also appealing among the users because its small size gives more space in the room to move around.

Getting a twin size can also be practical. Instead of buying the expensive king size bed mattress, some people opted to join or connect two twin size bed mattresses in order to have a somewhat king size mattress. Moreover, a twin size bed mattress is also known to be cheaper compared to other sizes of mattresses. One good thing about it is that you can buy a twin size mattress with a great brand with nothing to worry much about on the cost.

There is a variation to the twin size which is the twin XL size bed mattress. It has a width of thirty-nine (39) inches and a length of eighty (80) inches. So, practically it is a just five-inch higher in length that of the twin size bed mattress. The twin XL size bed mattress was designed to accommodate tall teenagers who are staying in school dormitories. It is also used among bunk beds, giving more space to move around.

Despite on the practicality found among twin size mattresses, some people, however, don’t find it so good. The small dimension of the twin size mattresses makes it unappealing to people who have large built and high in height. Accordingly, it is better to buy a mattress that is bigger, regardless on the person who will be using it (can be a petite person or heavy in built), because it can surely fit all - than buying something that is less in size and only the small ones can be accommodated. On the twin XL size bed mattress, people might find a little difficulty finding bedding or a cover that can fit with it because such size is not common and is not always available in the market.

No matter the size, the most important thing is that you are comfortable lying on it. It should also suit well to the interest and “level of comfort” to the one using it.

Do All You Can To Protect Your Personal Credit

Posted in Personal Finance
by Robert Bain

Your personal credit is very important to your future even if you don’t realize it right now. Those credit card offers in the mail can be very enticing. It can be fun to go out and buy whatever you want to. The day is going to arrive though when your mailbox is full of the bills, and if you aren’t able to pay them your credit is going to be destroyed.

Establishing your personal credit involves much more than just being able to get a credit card or even a personal loan. It needs to be an ongoing process that you continually monitor. You may not realize it, but having access to an excessive amount of credit can hurt you. For example if you have two credit cards with $25,000 of credit on each of them a creditor will look at the fact that you could potentially get yourself $50,000 into debt very easily and very quickly.

A very common mistake with personal credit it using it because you have it readily available. The best way to make sure you aren’t tempted is to not even have it accessible. Most people don’t realize that the amount of credit you can access can affect your credit score. Some lenders won’t give you additional credit because you may access the other credit you have in the process and then not have enough to pay all of your payments. Lenders don’t like to get burned and so they take precautions at all turns.

If you work hard to establish your credit, you can also call the shots with lenders. Let that car dealership know that if a 7% rate of interest is the best they will offer you then you will go somewhere else. Of course you can’t say this if you haven’t been responsible with your credit. The rate of interest is very important as part of your disposable income is going to be eaten away by it. Why give lenders more than you have to? Car loans are often five years and home loans thirty years. Over that length of time the amount of money you can save with a lower interest rate is substantial.

Make sure you have enough money in savings to cover two months of your regular expenses. This way if something unexpected happens you will be able to take care of your payments without being late or getting a bad mark on your credit. It can seem like forever when you are trying to get caught up. You also don’t want to have to rely on credit cards to pay for your essentials as the interest will eat you alive.

If there is no possible way for you to make your monthly payments as agreed to, you need to let those lenders know right away. Don’t assume they will just know what your circumstances are. If you contact them early enough they may be able to help you find a good solution. This is better than allowing your payments to default and go to collections. This is not a responsible way to handle your credit, and it will have a severe affect on your ability to get it for years to come.

Getting personal credit is a privilege and not a right. Don’t assume that just because you need funding that someone is going to give it to you. The real world doesn’t work this way. If you aren’t prepared for handling personal credit then be responsible enough to enroll in a class. Sometimes we fall into the same financial problems as our parents as we haven’t been exposed to better ways to handle financial matters. Doing all you can to protect your personal credit is going to assure that it is there when you need it for your future.

No matter how bad you need money you don’t want to get taken advantage of by lenders with high rates of interest. They are going to give you what you want but only in order to reap huge amounts of interest from you. This is going to get you into worse situations so just fall for it. You can recover from personal credit mistakes but it is going to take time to prove that you are worthy of a second chance from lenders.

Health Risks From Not Cleaning The Air Ducts.

Posted in Home Improvement
by Amy Nutt

There have not been many studies done that specifically look at duct cleaning alone in relationship with poor health. However, there are plenty of studies and other evidence that prove the hazardous health risks associated with poor indoor air quality and indoor air pollution. This means that ducts full of dirt, dust, debris and other fine particles obviously reduce the quality of air found within your home, as you are at much higher risk of being exposed to these free floating particles and the hazardous affect they can have on your health.

Indoor air pollution includes all sorts of particles, such as dirt, dust, mold, viruses, bacteria, fumes, pollen and animal hair that become filtered and trapped indoors and circulates in the air. These same types of particles easily collect inside ducts and are then found in the indoor air you breathe in higher quantities and concentrations. This means it stands to reason that not cleaning your ducts can have negative effects on your health.

Poor indoor air quality causes many varied symptoms that you may not even associate with the air you are breathing within the home. These symptoms include eye, nose and throat irritation, congestion, runny nose, general feelings of malaise (not feeling well) and the inability to concentrate. You can also be prone to “sick building syndrome”, which is a well-documented medical condition due to indoor air pollution. These symptoms include fatigue, headaches, nausea, lethargy and intense sensitivity to odors.

There are also many other health problems that can be contributed to unclean ducts associated with poor indoor air quality. Respiratory problems and illnesses, increased allergies, minor infections and more frequent major illnesses, such as colds and flu, can also be contributed to indoor air pollution. Clogged ducts can contain large amounts of pollen, dust, fungus, bacteria, viruses and other biological particles that are then circulated in high concentrations within the home.

It is important to clean your air ducts on a regular basis to avoid the potential health risks associated with indoor air pollution and poor air quality. Most of us spend the majority of our time inside and many hours within our homes. This makes it very important to take all needed precautions to ensure the best indoor air quality for ourselves and our families to safeguard against the potential health risks associated with indoor air pollution.

There are many companies that offer duct cleaning at reasonable rates and can make knowledgeable suggestions on how often your ducts should be cleaned. They can also perform regular duct inspections and debris analysis that will give you a better idea of the potential health hazards within your ducts and the quality of the air you breathe within your home. Avoid the health risks associated with indoor air pollution by reducing the amount of dangerous particles you breathe indoors. This should include cleaning your ducts regularly to avoid any possible health risks to you and your family. Having this done, you and your family will notice a difference in your health.

What Is Debt?

Posted in Personal Finance
by JR Rooney

What is debt?

Debt is something that is owed. An individual or business owing a debt is called a debtor. The entity to whom a debt is owed is called a creditor. Debt is used to borrow purchasing power with a promise to repay at some point in the future. Many businesses use debt as a part of their overall corporate finance strategy.

Types Of Debt

There are many types of debt obligations. They include but are not limited to mortgages, HELOC, bonds, credit cards and promissory notes. It is very common to borrow large sums for major purchases, such as a mortgage or car loan, and repay it with an agreed premium interest rate over time, or all at once at a later date (balloon payment). The total amount of money outstanding is normally called a debt. The debt will increase via interest. In many systems of economics this effect is termed usury, in others, the term “usury” refers only to an excessive rate of interest, in excess of a reasonable profit for the risk accepted (think loan sharks).

Larger companies can issue debt in the form of securities, known as bonds. Each bond entitles the holder to specific interest and principal payments. Bonds are traded in the bond markets, and depending on the rating are relatively safe investments in comparison to stocks.

Your Basement Bar Idea

Posted in Home Improvement
by Casey Torren

Designing a basement bar idea is one of the most desirable things you, as a house owner, can do for your den. Especially when you got lots of friends who like to party on weekends, you can have your basement as an alternative venue. Even for just the simple joy of hanging out, the basement is a perfect spot.

It makes a basement specially pleasant to hang out in if you know your friends enjoy the room too. Having a very good basement bar idea is one thing that gives you that sense of fulfillment. The conversation doesn’t seem to end. Here are some things you need to set it up.

1. Sink. You have to place your sink in a corner where it’s near to the plumbing system. This is will make it easier to install. Since all ends of the plumbing system in your house leads to the basement, might as well set up your mini bar there. Your wet bar is where you wash stuff or drain all excessive spills into the sink.

2. Liquor shelves. Having a liquor shelf in your basement bar is essential since you’ll be serving drinks in the room. Place your liquor shelf in an area where the temperature is consistent. This will help as most of the wine and other liquor types are temperature regulated. A basement bar idea can never be complete without this.

3. Keg, cooler, and a refrigerator. If you’re thinking about the possibility of serving beer, consider putting a beer keg shelf under your bar. It’s safe and it’s easy to manage. Some bar units have a built-in keg cabinet. An alternative to the beer keg is a cooler to put your beer bottles in. However, coolers can also be messy after the party. If you don’t like coolers or keg, put a mini ref in your basement bar. But these are also must haves for a basement bar.

4. The bar. Can a basement bar be what it is without the bar? You have a choice of building your own. Some carpentry skills and a little time in your weekend schedule is what you basically need. This is most practical when your budget is tight. However, if cash is not a concern, buy one. There are a lot of different types of bars that suits your basement bar idea to choose from.

5. A bartender. Then adding an experienced bartender in your list makes it more fun. However, this can add to your overhead cost. If you have a friend who knows how to mix concoctions, send him in. But if you don’t, the next best option is to study this art of mixing drinks. The fun part is when the party begins. Having this is your plan completes your basement bar idea.

Some basement bars can be quite a well-designed that they don’t even look like basement at all. The designs are so good you might think it’s a bar in a hotel restaurant. The point is that all you need is a good and clear vision of how your bar should look like. Your basement bar idea is your key to make it happen. When it’s done you’ll be the envy of your friends and neighborhood.
